Countering the Porn Plague: Selected Resources PDF
Monday, 04 June 2012 12:43

by  Bill Muehlenberg 2/6/12 Pornography is a social tsunami destroying our societies, ruining our marriages, busting up our families, enslaving our men, and killing our kids. I wish I could say this was just happening outside of the churches. But sadly the Christian world is being just as decimated by this problem as anyone else.

It is vital that all Christians take this challenge seriously, and seek to do all they can to keep free of this addictive smut, and help others to do the same. Fortunately there are many good resources out there to help us with this. There are both Christian and non-Christian books and videos available which we all need to make use of.

The following are some of the better resources out there which discuss the porn plague, document its nefarious effects, and provide practical help on getting free and staying free.

Forget the Kids, We’re Gonna Save the Planet PDF
Tuesday, 06 October 2009 06:10
We are often told that in order to save the planet, we must have fewer kids. Warnings about overpopulation and resources scarcity are being coupled with exhortations to go childless, or to have as few kids as possible. All sorts of people are making these claims - some more qualified than others.

Childless actress Cameron Diaz recently said that for environmental reasons we should ease up on having children: "We don't need any more kids. We have plenty of people on this planet." Population alarmist Paul Ehrlich recently made it quite clear about how immoral it is to have large families: "Ethically, having five children is the same as robbing a bank".

Islam and Polygamy PDF

Bill Muehlenberg’s commentary on issues of the day

I have been utterly amazed to discover that a major newspaper recently carried an opinion piece by a Muslim spokesman advocating polygamy in Australia. If a Christian were to write an article suggesting something equally bizarre, it would never see the light of day. Or if it would, the only reason would be for it to be roundly condemned by one and all. But the Melbourne Age evidently thought it was quite alright to actually run with this nonsense, presumably because a Muslim was pushing it.

To be sure, there are all sorts of nutter groups out there promoting polygamy and polyamory at the moment. Simply type the latter term into a search engine, and see the multitude of sites promoting it. There are plenty of groups out there - some seeking to pass themselves off as 'respectable' - calling for the full legalisation and normalisation of polyamory.

Of interest, the very same arguments being used for polyamory (group love and marriage) are the ones being used for same-sex marriage: 'Hey, what's wrong with it if it is consensual, confined to adults, and doesn't hurt anyone?'

Introduction

Modern life is full of pressures which were not around just several decades ago. Today the battle to pay off the family home and meet other financial needs is becoming increasingly more difficult. A single wage is often not sufficient. As a result more and more families are relying on two incomes to get them through. The need for out of home child care has therefore risen markedly. Moreover, the large increase in the number of single parents has also meant a greater demand for formal child care.
