Chilling philosophy


Academics from two Melbourne universities have published a paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics suggesting that we permit ‘after-birth’ abortion in all cases where abortion is permissible, including cases where ‘the newborn is not disabled,’ arguing that if the moral status of the newborn is the same as the nearly-born, then the same rules should apply to them in justifying abortion (Herald Sun 5/3/12 p13).
